Auditable security-and-safety standard for agents (51 requirements, 130 controls across six risk pillars) whose certification is backed by Lloyd's of London insurance, so the certifier also underwrites the residual risk of the agents it certifies.

Description. AIUC-1 operationalises insurance-backed agent certification: an agent vendor is audited against 51 requirements and 130 controls across six risk pillars — data & privacy, security, safety, reliability, accountability, and societal risks — and the resulting certification comes with Lloyd's of London-backed coverage, so enterprise customers of the certified agent are insured against the failures the standard is designed to prevent. Because the certificate issuer also underwrites the risk, the audit has capital at stake rather than being attestation-only. ElevenLabs was first to go live with AIUC-1-backed agent insurance (February 2026); Intercom certified its customer-facing agent Fin. The standard is developed with input from Fortune 500 CISOs and updated on a rolling basis.

Agent loop shape. Not an agent runtime: vendor's agent is audited against the AIUC-1 control set -> certification issued -> Lloyd's-backed coverage attaches to the certified configuration -> customers of the agent are insured; incidents and re-audits feed back into certification and pricing.

Primary use cases

  • certifying enterprise-facing agents against an auditable control set
  • insuring enterprise customers against agent failure losses
  • de-risking agent procurement for buyers who cannot carry unbounded liability

Key concepts

  • Six risk pillars (docs)Data & privacy, security, safety, reliability, accountability, and societal risks — the axes the 130 controls cover.
  • Insurance-backed certification (docs)The certificate issuer also underwrites the risk, aligning audit incentives with real failure cost.
